Meet the Coaches

 

Varsity Head Coach – Erik Jacobsen

 

A former goalie and Daily Record Coach of the Year in 2010, Coach Jacobsen is in his 9th year with the Ice Hockey program and his 4th year as Varsity Head Coach. West Morris has won two Haas Cup Championships under his guidance. He is a 1997 graduate of Thomas Worthington High School in Worthington, Ohio and a 2001 graduate of Ohio University with a B.A. in History. Coach Jacobsen is in his sixth year teaching American History and Contemporary World Issues at WMCHS. His past professional experience includes serving as a Policy Writer to two New Jersey Governors and various recreational programs, holding positions such as instructor, coach, and referee/umpire in Ohio. Coach Jacobsen is married with two sons and also coaches baseball at WMCHS.

 

 

Assistant Coach – Mark Miller

 

Coach Miller is currently serving as the Varsity Ice Hockey Assistant Coach.  He served as Junior Varsity Ice Hockey Assistant Coach in 2007-2008.  Mark has played ice hockey for 17 years, and works at WMC in the Technology Department.  He also played soccer for Gettysburg College in 1995 and 1996.

 

 

 

Assistant Coach – Ryan Paxton

 

Coach Paxton was the Junior Varsity Head Coach the prior two years.  He grew up in Long Valley and is a 2000 graduate of WMC.  Coach Paxton played soccer and baseball at WMC.  He attended Long Island University on a Division I scholarship for baseball.  Coach Paxton left LIU and went to Ramapo College of New Jersey and graduated in 2008 with a Bachelors Degree in History.  Other sports related positions include:  Assistant American Legion Baseball Coach, Head Coach WMC JV Baseball, Hitting Coach for Ramapo College, and Camp Director of All Star Baseball Camp.
